Mistake #8: Not Making a plan that financially provides for your children.
July 29, 2024What happens if one night you go out to dinner and you do not make it back that night. You may be alive but not able to return right away. Let’s say for the sake of knowing what happened, that there was a car accident, and you will need a 24-hour stay at the hospital, just for observation. Your phone broke in the incident and hours passed before you can call home.
Before the babysitter learns of what happened, she checks the clock, and it is 12 at night. Then, it is one in the morning. She can wait longer but certainly gets impatient. It is now two in the morning. Did I say she has a day job tomorrow? You do not answer your phone. What is she going to do? She will call the police, of course.
The Seventh common mistake parents make when Naming Guardians for their Children is Not Having Instructions for the Babysitter.
Babysitters are usually the first ones to act in an emergency. Do they know who to call? This is where temporary guardians step in and make sure your kids sleep the night at home. They are the ones who can avoid your children an scary night with strangers and concerned about their parents. But if your sitter has the right instructions with the right person to call, all the drama can be avoided.
So, something as simple as leaving the right instructions for the sitter, may avoid a night with the Department of Children and Families.
